The monument to Ismail Somoni is a monument located in the north of Tajikistan, in the center of Khujand, on Dusti Square. The monument was opened in 1999 in honor of the 1100th anniversary of the Samanid state, and is dedicated to its founder, Ismail Samani, an emir from the Samanid dynasty. Previously, a monument to Lenin stood at this place, it was transferred to Victory Park, where all the monuments and monuments of the Soviet era are located.
The monument is a sculpture of non-ferrous metal, 13 meters high, and with a pedestal 27 meters. The national emblem in the hands of Somoni, and the crown on his head, are covered with gold leaf. At the foot of the monument is a bronze bas-relief measuring 2.5 by 16 meters, which reflects the history of the reign of Somoni. Two bronze lions lie on two sides of the pedestal. The author of the project is the sculptor Mansur Khojiboev.
